“Interesting and different to the hustle and bustle of the town centre”_ From Ms Wendy
- Located 10 mins drive from Old Quarter which costed about 55,000 VD equivalent to about USD2.50. Ensure you get a reliable taxi company such as Taxi Group as recommended by locals and Mr Anh as other taxis have corrupt meters and this is from our experience! Let’s not even go there.
- Food and service was fantastic! We could even watch Mr Anh’s aunty and niece make delicious food and I could help out because I wanted to learn! They are so nice and welcoming.
- As part of “Superior Class” homestay, we had a wonderful tour guide named Trang. She speaks good English and is a happy and bubbly person with so much passion and enthusiasm for traditional Vietamese cooking. You are taken on a bicycle tour to the local market only 5 mins ride away from the homestay and you see so much! There are heaps of seafood, meats, fruit and vegetables which are so fresh! By the way we ate so much on our trip and there are no fast food stores except one and we didn’t put on any weight!! Thanks Viet Nam haha. Anyway, Trang pays for all the groceries so you only have to pay for the tour and everything else is included. We rode back to homestay and Trang taught us and cooked with us 6 traditional dishes and dessert!!! It was so personal and you can have a fun chat with her and I have come back home and made the dishes because I love them so much!
- Overall the experience was a good one and you have this scenic view of the Red River – it was relaxing and sort of a good getaway in the city but away from the city if you get me thank you Mr Anh and family and the Awesome Travel crew for your hospitality and sure to see you all again.
“Lovely stay by the river”_ From Ms Sarah
I was fortunate to stay in Mr Anh’s homestay for one night this month. While I would usually frequent more upmarket establishments, I believe that homestay such as this are a vital component of any vietnamese travel experience, at least for a few nights. I would particularly recommend this homestay on the basis of the exceptional friendliness of the hosts, delicious home cooking and beautiful location in the quieter part of town on the river. There are also fun activities such as badminton and mini golf, as well as a pet python!
Overall I would not hesitate in recommending this accommodation to my friends.
“Very relaxing home stay in Hanoi”_ Mr Bob Leong
I was in Hanoi from 16 to 19 June 2014 and stayed 2 nights at Mr Anh’s Awesome Homestay. It was the first time for me. Although it was a far cry from the luxuries of a hotel, it was homely and comfortable enough. The services of Mr Anh and his two wonderful staffs made my stay very pleasant and relaxing.
The best of all was the price. Costing just US $20/=a day inclusive of simple breakfast was something I never expect in Hanoi.
It has been a memorable experience for me, and I will certainly recommend it to anyone wanting a stress free short holiday. You can be certain Mr Anh will take good care of you.
“Great experience”_ From Ms Vicky
Yen, our lovely young guide, picked us up and took us to their cooking school to prepare us for the day ahead with a little language lesson. Then off to the market to buy the food and that was a real experience! Fish, meat, chicken and vegetables – all so fresh, and the market ladies joined in the fun of our negotiating prices and trying to speak something that sounded a little like their language!. Then back to the school to start preparing our lunch. We certainly learnt a few tricks about folding spring rolls and making a tasty dipping sauce amongst other things. Yen is a talented young lady! Sitting by the river enjoying the results of the morning’s shopping and cooking was a lovely experience. Thank you Mr Anh and Yen for providing this insight into Vietnamese life. Thoroughly recommended.
“Just love Vietnam Awesome Travel”_ From Ms Rosemary.
Mr. Anh and his staff are absolutely amazing, friendly and knowledgeable and so willing to make sure that everything turns out better than you dreamed of. We did the morning walking tour with Dave, who took us to Hoan Kiem Lake, French Quarter, Old Quarter and a beautiful breakfast of Beef Pho (that I am still dreaming of). Tranh did a very special customised tour with us taking us walking along the Long Bien Bridge, to the Lotus Blossom ponds at West Lake (where we saw a beautiful couple getting wedding photographs taken) then off to the Vietnam Women’s Musuem and finally to a superb lunch at the Orchid Restaurant. Our last night in Hanoi, Mr. Anh arranged a beautiful couples massage at a most trendy spa and then he took us himself to his home and the beautiful Scenic Restaurant where his Mother in law, wife and sister prepared us an amazing meal whilst we sat on the banks of the Red River. It was simply divine! This is an amazing tour company with absolutely superb staff – can’t wait to go back to Hanoi and use this company again! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!
“Literally an awesome experience”_ From Mr John/ Judy.
My husband and I took a cooking class about a month ago and it was incredible. We got a quick language lesson (we wish we would have done this at the beginning of the the trip), we chose the menu and then we biked off to the market to do our bargaining. Cooking, having a few drinks, meeting other people in the cooking class- it was all great fun. Mr. Ahn was extremely generous and our guide was great! It was the best tour/cooking class we did in all of SE Asia. We would recommend this cooking class to everyone!
“Great Homestay”_ From Mr Christopher
The service from Awesome Homestay was great, especially bcs the prices are reasonable. The homestay was a great nice house next to the river with nice rooms and great food! The owner was very helpful and in the evenings you get to sit outside next to the river. It is a very quiet neighbourhood if you feel like getting some rest from the busy city, this is the place to go.
